We provide specialist engineering services that connect analysis, design and practical project delivery. From initial assessment through detailed engineering, our multidisciplinary team helps clients identify risks, optimise designs and deliver technically robust solutions.

01 — Piping

Pipe Stress Analysis

At GED, we deliver results using advanced engineering software and experienced engineers — practical and economical solutions, supported by direct access to our engineers by phone, Teams or site visit.

Simple solutions for complex piping problems: component analysis, construction and structural analysis of complex piping systems and associated steel structures.

What We Check

01

Stress & Flexibility — Stress assessment to applicable codes, including BS EN 13480 and ASME B31.1.

02

Support Spans — Review of pipe support spacing in accordance with applicable requirements, including ASME B31.1 Table 121.5.

03

Anchor Points & Loads — Assessment of anchor locations and resulting loads.

04

Support Loads & Movements — Calculation of support reactions and pipe movements.

05

Design Strategy Mark-ups — Clear drawings showing required supports, restraints, guides and anchors.

06

Firestop & Wall Penetrations — Assessment of pipe movement for appropriate fire sleeve and penetration design.

07

Equipment Nozzle Loads — Assessment of piping loads transferred to connected equipment.

08

Support Type Recommendations — Selection of suitable support arrangements based on system requirements.

09

Rigid Hangers — Engineering details for rigid hangers where the system is suspended.

10

Expansion Solutions — Optimisation of the piping system to minimise unnecessary expansion equipment where technically feasible.

Continuous Engineering Support

Continuous Engineering Support

Our service does not end with the analysis report. Our engineers remain available throughout the project to assist with technical queries, design changes and site-related issues whenever required.

Our Process

Four Steps to Make Your Piping System Code-Compliant and Ready for Sign-Off

A coordinated engineering process that takes your piping system from initial requirements through analysis, optimisation and approval-ready documentation.

01 Understand the System

Confirm project requirements, operating conditions, system arrangement and applicable design codes.

02 Analyse & Identify

Carry out pipe stress analysis to identify critical loads, movements, support issues and system risks.

03 Optimise the Design

Refine piping arrangements, supports, restraints and anchor locations to improve system performance.

04 Documentation for Client’s Review

Prepare reports, marked-up drawings, material information and technical deliverables for review.

03 — Structural & FEA

Structural Analysis & FEA

Our Structures and FEA team delivers practical, efficient and standards-compliant structural solutions — from simple pipe support brackets to complex portal frames, equipment supports and bespoke steel assemblies for pipes, ducts, cable containment, mechanical equipment and building services.

Loading conditions considered include dead, imposed and gravity loads; pipe reactions from thermal expansion and pipe stress analysis; wind and seismic loads; equipment and operational loads; and project-specific environmental and accidental loads. We also provide connection design to Eurocode 3 (EN 1993) — bolted and welded connections, base plates, anchors, stiffeners and gusset plates — and use advanced FEA software to assess stress, deformation, stability and structural behaviour before fabrication.
